Angle Grinder

Semantics & Semiotics.

Designed with a market in mind of the aging - close to retirement - population of mechanics, stone workers, builders etc. Those with a limited or diminishing power in their grip. It was noted that current market angle grinders were not easy to hold, switch on / off and change the cutting disc. I redesigned with a slimmer profile easier to grip body, a more intuitive switching system and a clutch style of cutting disc interchange - an added bonus of which would be reversible clockwise / anti clockwise cutting action with the elimination of the thread, this would enable greater flexibility of use of the tool, with the user less likely to be in the path of the debris if operating in a confined space.

A good level of user based research led to a satisfactory outcome, and an advancement in sketching soft modelling and SolidWorks skills.
